Implement and Monitor Your District’s Strategic Plan

ECRA, in partnership with Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA), is offering a program for school districts to ensure effective implementation and monitoring of the district’s strategic plan.

Work with national experts that will guide your district as you develop action plans and monitoring systems to realize your district’s vision.

Program Description

The program provides superintendents and their team with the guidance and tools to successfully implement the district’s strategic plan. The program is delivered virtually and combines professional development, expert guidance, and a strategic dashboard tool to manage and communicate progress to the board, community, and other district stakeholders.

Program Objectives

Participants of the program will be guided to achieve the following objectives:

  • Align the district’s strategic plan to district and school improvement plans
  • Define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure progress towards strategic goals
  • Leverage benchmarks to enhance board, community, and stakeholder understanding
  • Launch a Strategic Dashboard to monitor and communicate performance

Program Design

The program is a structured as a  modular process, and includes the following:

  • Three live virtual PD sessions with the District leadership team
  • As-needed consulting for the Superintendent or their designee
  • On-demand learning resources and templates
  • 12-month license to the ECRA Strategic Dashboard

Lead Instructor

Through this partnership, districts will learn from Dr. John Gatta.

John Gatta, Ph.D. is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ECRA Group. In addition to his responsibilities at ECRA Group, Dr. Gatta is an Associate Professor of statistics, predictive analytics, and machine learning at Northwestern University, where he served as Director of Research for 12 years. Dr. Gatta has been the recipient of local and national awards such as educator of the year from Northwestern University and statistician of the year from the American Statistical Association for excellence in the teaching of statistics and data science. He has publications in both the education and healthcare sectors.

His unique blend of academic, technical, management and leadership experience gives him keen insights into how schools can best leverage strategic planning as a core strategy for quality improvement.

Modules

The process is typically completed within three months, but allows districts to begin and move at their own pace. The process is organized into the following three modules. Districts can expand training, support, and professional development beyond the included three modules and live PD sessions if desired.

Module 1

Align your strategic plan to district and school improvement plans

The first step in implementing your district’s strategic plan is to align the district and school improvement process to the strategic implementation process. Leadership teams will learn how to structure district and school improvement plans to be the annual actions and priorities of the strategic plan.

Module 2

Operationalize Your Vision through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Using data effectively to communicate and monitor progress toward the vision is a core component to effective strategic monitoring and evidence-based practice. Leadership teams will learn how to identify the right metrics and benchmarks to support strategic monitoring and communication.

Module 3

Document & Monitor Strategies and Action Plans

Clearly articulating the strategies, actions, and timelines for implementation ensures a common understanding of priorities and accountability. Leadership teams will learn how to organize strategies and actions, as well as monitor milestones toward completion.

Strategic Dashboard

Included in the program is a 12-month license to use ECRA’s Strategic Dashboard

As an outcome of this process, your district will develop and launch a Strategic Dashboard.

ECRA’s Strategic Dashboard is a powerful tool for superintendents and boards of education to tell their school district’s story and track strategic indicators and priorities.

Vision

Communicate your district’s mission and vision in a multimedia format to inspire your board and community.

KPIs

Measure progress towards the district’s vision through key performance indicators (KPI) and benchmarks.

Strategies

Monitor implementation of goals and objectives and provide transparency to the board and community regarding progress.
