ECRA Welcomes Dr. Michael Lubelfeld as Vice President

ECRA is pleased to welcome Dr. Michael Lubelfeld as Vice President. A nationally recognized educational leader, author, and former superintendent, Lubelfeld brings a career’s worth of leadership experience to ECRA’s work with school districts across the country. He is a leader committed to evidence-based practice with a proven track record of initiating positive change for students.
In his role, Lubelfeld will provide thought leadership and serve as a resource to superintendents, boards of education, and district leadership teams. His practitioner perspective will complement ECRA’s expertise in predictive analytics, helping school leaders use data not simply to understand what has happened, but to anticipate student needs, identify opportunities for improvement, and make more informed decisions about the future.
“Mike understands the opportunities and challenges facing school leaders because he has spent his career leading this work,” said Dr. John Gatta, President and CEO of ECRA Group. “Mike instinctively understands that great educational leadership is measured by moving the needle on student outcomes which perfectly aligns with ECRA’s solutions. His experience and leadership perspective are a natural complement to ECRA’s commitment to helping districts make better, evidence-based decisions.”
From District Leadership to National Thought Leadership
Lubelfeld served as a public school superintendent in Illinois from 2010 to 2026, most recently leading North Shore School District 112, a PK–8 district serving Highland Park and Highwood, just north of Chicago.
Throughout his career, he has focused on leadership development, student voice, organizational change, strategic planning, and preparing school systems for the future. His areas of expertise include leadership development, generative AI in education, student voice, change leadership, and future-ready school systems.
These experiences align closely with ECRA’s work helping districts move beyond traditional reporting toward predictive and actionable insights. Through advanced analytics, ECRA helps educational leaders understand student trajectories, anticipate outcomes, evaluate programs and strategies, and focus resources where they can have the greatest impact.
“School leaders have access to more data than ever before, but the real opportunity is turning that data into meaningful action,” Lubelfeld said. “ECRA’s use of predictive analytics gives school district leaders powerful insights into where students and systems are headed. I’m excited to help district leaders connect those insights to strategy, leadership, and improved outcomes for students.”
Author, Educator, and Leader
Lubelfeld is the co-author of five books on educational leadership and learning, including The Unlearning Leader, Student Voice, The Unfinished Leader, The Unfinished Teacher, and Leading for Tomorrow’s Schools Today. His writing and speaking emphasize reflective leadership, continuous improvement, innovation, and preparing schools for a rapidly changing world.
His professional recognitions include the Rotary Service Above Self Award, IETL Delta Award for Innovation, and Robert H. Koff Award from the National Superintendents Roundtable. He was also a 2025 ISTE+ASCD Generation AI Fellow and 2025–26 Google-GSV Fellow.
Lubelfeld’s addition strengthens ECRA’s commitment to combining predictive analytics, research, and experienced educational leadership to help school systems make confident decisions about what comes next.
