Lancaster Independent School District has more than 7300 students and more than 800 employees and is located in the southern portion of the Dallas, TX Metroplex. The district is comprised of one high school campus, a junior high campus, one sixth grade campus, six elementary campuses and an alternative education campus.
During the last four years, the district has received more than 100 Academic Distinctions from the Texas Education Agency and every campus has met or exceeded state standards for four years in a row.
The district is governed by an engaged, dynamic Board of Trustees which was named the 2016 Most Outstanding School Board in Texas by the Texas Association of School Administrators and the National School Board of the Year by the National Alliance of Black School Educators. The Board was also recently recognized as the recipient of the Council of Urban Boards of Education (CUBE) Annual Award for Urban School Board Excellence.
Lancaster ISD has a 96% graduation rate, and is the first K-12 STEM school district in Texas while receiving $8.5 Million in STEM grant funding from Texas Instruments. It also opened two new state of the art campuses this fall and has two major bond constructions projects underway.
The new superintendent will begin on July 1, 2018 or sooner, if possible.
A slate of candidates is expected to be presented to the Board the week of February 19, 2018.
